Back on Land in Fethiye

We arrived in the Fethiye harbor mid-afternoon and set out walking to find our nearby hotel. Our home for the next two days will be in a little boutique hotel with modern décor and a nice pool area to lounge. The most exciting part for Jennifer was being able to take a normal shower and feel clean and salt-free for the first time in 4 days. The next couple hours were spent relaxing in one of the hotel’s poolside cabanas and taking in the beautiful weather.

Once it cooled off, we decided to get a little exercise and hike over to the hillside of town to explore some ancient ruins. We walked through a Roman theatre and were quite impressed by the elaborate tombs carved into the hills. All along our stroll we were surprised to see sarcophagi situated throughout the city in random locations (one was in the middle of a busy street!)

The rest of our evening was spent getting dinner at the fish market where we hand picked our meal and took it to a nearby restaurant to be cooked.  We picked out some prawns and seabass and devoured every last bit. On the walk back to our hotel we stopped at a seaside restaurant to enjoy some red wine and then headed home for an early night to bed.
