On the Road Again…. Nice to Cinque Terre

We spent most of the day on the train making our way from France to Italy. Fortunately, we were once again visually stimulated with beautiful scenery along the way.  We met a nice couple from Washington state who were heading to Cinque Terra as well, who were enjoying their pre-marriage honeymoon.

We arrived at the town of Riomaggiorre in Cinque Terra and checked into the hostel we had booked.  Like many of the five towns that make up Cinque Terra, Riomaggiorre was built in a small valley with buildings lining the narrow and steep coastal slopes.  After walking numerous steps through steep terrain, we arrived at our cute little room with ocean views and 6’5” ceilings.
Sam being the faithful Catholic that he is continued to starve Jennifer by postponing our dinner until after mass.  We found a pretty church in the center of town for Sunday service.  The whole mass was in Italian…. all we understood was amen and alleluia.

Sam decided this would be his romantic night of the honeymoon and took Jennifer to a nice Italian restaurant followed by drinks down by the water.  On the way back up to our room, we grabbed some gelato for the stroll back.
