A Venetian Stroll to Say Arrivederci to Italy

Our day started off right this morning with breakfast brought to our room and Jennifer kindly serving Sam while still in bed. After devouring our croissants, baguette, and coffee, we set out for a long day of exploring Venice.
We were once again blessed with more beautiful weather that we definitely appreciate after having sporadic conditions over the past couple of weeks.  Sam took the opportunity to wear one of his tank tops and Jennifer strolled through town in a lovely sundress.  This limited our ability to enter churches, but with the number of holy sites we have visited already, I think God will understand us choosing to miss His lovely homes scattered throughout the canals.
Stop number one was Piazza San Marco… the most visited square in Venice. As soon as we emerged one of the many narrow pathways into San Marco we recognized the structures surrounding us and were impressed by their grandeur.  The architectural style of this piazza was very distinctly Venetian and quite unique from the other plazas we have seen along our journey.
After battling the crowds throughout the San Marco Piazza, we walked along the boardwalk and explore more of the city while soaking up some needed UVs.  The exercise felt good and having a day of walking without going in every beautiful structure was a pleasant change.  The remainder of our afternoon consisted of relaxing, people watching and booking flights and hotels in Turkey.  Tonight we will just grab a bite to eat and the following day will consist mostly of traveling to Turkey.  We are super excited to move farther east and visit the Turks.  We will be sure to check back in as soon as we can from Istanbul.  Until then… arrivederci (goodbye)
